Conservation Department Prints and Negatives
This collection consists of a selection of glass plate negatives, film negatives, photoprints, and lantern slides compiled by the Forest, Fish and Game Commission (1900-1911), the Conservation Commission (1911-1926), and the Conservation Department (1926-1970), all of which preceded the current Department of Environmental Conservation. The images were created as part of these units’ work to preserve, administer, and publicize New York State's natural resources and environment. The images depict multiple subjects, including fish and game control; forest management and conservation; historic sites and recreational areas; and department officials.
