Applying
Could you supply information on the possible availability of 2009/10 DHP grant funds?
With the current fiscal crisis, we are wondering whether grants might not be available this year for new projects.
While there is no absolute guarantee, we do expect to have funds available for DHP grants. Right now, we expect it to be $100,000. We will be accepting applications and conducting the grant review per our usual process. So we would encourage you to proceed with developing your application.
Who is eligible to apply for a Documentary Heritage Program Grant?
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit community organizations, archives, libraries, historical societies, and similar institutions within New York State and consortia or partnerships of such agencies. Also eligible are service providers such as historical service agencies, colleges and universities, professional associations, or other not-for-profit institutions or systems that provide services to historical records programs. A copy of a document proving United States Internal Revenue Service Code 501(c)(3) or equivalent designation for not-for-profit status must be included with the application. Whom
should I contact if I have any questions about the grant program or submitting
an application?
The State Archives provides technical advice to historical records repositories through its Regional Archivists (RAs). Help is also available from the DHP Central Office at 518/474-6926, or the DHP email box at DHS@mail.nysed.gov.
When is
the application due date?
The due date for DHP grant applications is the first workday of the month
of February.
How do
I get a copy of the grant application materials?
These materials are available on the State Archives website, http://www.archives.nysed.gov,
or a paper copy may be requested by e-mail: DHS@mail.nysed.gov
Can an
institution apply for more than one grant?
Yes.
