Applying

  1. Could you supply information on the availability of 2011/12 DHP grant funds? With the current fiscal crisis, we are wondering if grants will be available this year.

    The Archives expects to have funds available for 2011/2012 DHP grants. Applications will be accepted per the usual process.

  2. Whom should I contact if I have any questions about the grant program or
    submitting an application?

    The State Archives provides technical advice to potential applicants from the DHP Central Office at 518- 474-6926, or the DHP email box at DHS@mail.nysed.gov. Our Regional Archivists also provide technical advice to historical records repositories.

  3. When is the application due date?

    The due date for 2011/2012 DHP grant applications is February 1st.

  4. How do I get a copy of the grant application materials?

    These materials are available on the State Archives website, or a paper copy may be requested by e-mail: DHS@mail.nysed.gov.

  5. Can an institution apply for more than one grant?

    Yes.

  6. What eligibility restrictions are applied to CUNYs and SUNYs?

    According to the State Education Law 140, CUNYs and SUNYs “may apply for historical records project grants with regard to records other than internal records generated by the institution after July 1, 1948 if it is a component of the SUNY or after July 1, 1979 if it is a component of the CUNY or after the subsequent date on which the institution became a component of such university."
