NYS Department of Taxation and Finance Wins State Archives Award
October 28, 2011
Albany, NY -- The New York State Archives and the Archives Partnership Trust have selected the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance to receive the 2011 Annual Archives Award for Excellence in State Agency Records Management Programs. This award is presented annually to recognize a state agency’s major accomplishments relating to records management.
The award was presented to Records Management Officer Mary Ellen Nagengast at a luncheon ceremony at the Cultural Education Center in Albany on October 25, 2011.
This year’s award recognizes the Department of Taxation and Finance for its model imaging production policy and procedures, its effective records management procedures and its active participation in state records management activities including the General Schedule Information Classification working group, which worked to develop guidelines for assigning security classifications to types of records for state agencies.
“We are pleased to recognize the Department of Taxation and Finance for their outstanding efforts to manage and ultimately preserve the records of state government,” said State Archivist Christine Ward. “This agency was selected from among all state agencies as having the finest program in the state in 2011. But the real winner is not this agency; rather it is the people of the State of New York. We commend all involved in this winning program and wish them continued success in the years ahead.”
Previous award winners include (2010) State University of New York, (2009) NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, (2008) NYS Consumer Protection Board, (2007) NYS Thruway Authority and Canal Corporation, (2006) NYS Emergency Management Office, (2005) NYS Department of Civil Service, and (2004) NYS Insurance Department.
