Description:
In this new approach to problem solving, we will explore critical issues that may arise from neglecting the careful management of electronically recorded information. Using the diagnostic tool created by the State Archives for its Longitudinal Data Studies of individual local government records and information management programs, we will attempt to evaluate the electronic records we maintain.
Intended Audience:
Anyone who creates, receives, manages, and manipulates electronically recorded information for their jobs.
Goals:
This workshop will:
- Offer essential information on best practices in managing electronic records in a local government environment
- Present guidance for local governments that use Cloud Computing for records management
- Present essential information on amendments to FOIL and Civil Practice Laws that pertains to electronic records, to open government, privacy, and to eDiscovery
- Give an opportunity for interactive troubleshooting with participants who anticipate problems managing their electronic records
