Consider the Source
Consider the Source: Historical Records in the Classroom is one of the first major publications to introduce the use of historical records as source material for classroom instruction. This 146-page book is published by the New York State Archives and includes reproductions of 26 historical records along with related lesson plans and activities. An overview of Consider the Source consists of a foreword describing the importance of historical records and a listing of the table of contents along with three sample lesson plans that are based on:
- An 1825 Erie Canal Broadside
- A 1903 Survey of Industrial Discharge and Sewage
