Recovery

By mid-October, emergency personnel had established control over the World Trade Center site and no longer needed aerial data. EarthData flew its last data-gathering mission on October 22, 2001. Efforts to recover the remains of those who perished, the possessions of the living and the dead, and crime scene evidence and to rebuild lower Manhattan's transportation and telecommunications infrastructure continued well into 2002. Efforts to rebuild the local economy and the World Trade Center site continue today, ten years hence.
