The small park at center left is Washington Market Park. Chambers Street, the southern boundary of the TriBeCa neighborhood, runs across lower Manhattan just below the park. Most of TriBeCa lost electric and landline telephone service as a result of the attack, and many residents were forced to leave the area.
Note the almost complete absence of traffic below Chambers Street: for months after the attack, access to World Trade Center site and its environs was restricted to authorized personnel. Magnify this image to view emergency personnel stationed along Chambers Street.
