ArrangementThere is no apparent arrangement scheme for the material. OverviewPapers consist of letters, newspaper clippings, photographs, and three photograph albums, reflecting DuBois's involvement with the Federation of Dutchess County Fish and Game Club and numerous other sports clubs. Also included are issues of the "Dutchess County Sportsman"; a program from the first annual mid-Hudson Sportsman's show; membership cards; and fifteen b&w photographs of DuBois attending numerou social events related to sports clubs. Three photograph albums (ca. 1918-1920) contain images of DuBois's hunting expeditions in the Adirondack and Catskill Mountain areas of Brantingham Lake, Clayville, Spy Lake, Piseco Fulton Chain, Mud Lake and Copper Lake. The images include his fellow hunters, cabins, woodlands and dead game Biographical information about DuBois and letters sent to Hazel DuBois regarding his death are available with his papers. Biographical SketchElting Lounsbery DuBois was born in Pougkeepsie, New York in 1890, the son of Roelof Elting an Mary Whinfield DuBois. He studied forestry at the University of Wisconsin, and went on to work for Lumb Woodworking Company and Delaval Separator Company. DuBois married Hazel Deyo Gerow a the couple had one daughter, Phyllis Marie DuBois. The family resided at Poughkeepsie where DuBo following his departure from the DeLaval Separator Company, he opened a sporting goods store. DuB also served as the town tax collector and was elected a justice of the peace for the Town of Poughkeepsie. He was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed hunting and camping in the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains. For twenty years he served as president of the Dutchess County Federation of Fis and Game Clubs; he helped to found the Dutchess County Pistol Club and the Dutchess County Sportsmen's Association; he was a member of the Dutchess County Skeet Club and the Tri-Po-Bed-Grotto. He served as the Sportsmen's Club representative to the New York State Conservat Council and was involved in fish planting and pheasant stocking in the region. Aside from his interests conservation, DuBois was a Mason, Odd Fellow and a Kiwanis Club member. He died in 1956.
