NYS Office of Children and Family Services Wins State Archives Award

Friday, November 6, 2015

The New York State Archives and the Archives Partnership Trust have selected the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to receive the 2015 Annual Archives Award for Excellence in State Agency Records Management Program Development.  This award is presented annually to recognize a state agency’s accomplishments relating to records management program development.

The award was presented to Records Management Officer Marie Thibodeau and Assistant Office Service Manager Deborah Burke at a luncheon ceremony at the Cultural Education Center in Albany, held recently.

This award acknowledges the work the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) has done to promote, support, and modernize the agency’s records management program.  This award recognizes the careful work the agency has accomplished working with program units to review and update existing records retention and disposition schedules and create new schedules where needed. This award also recognizes the agency’s commitment to identifying its archival records, preserving these records, and ensuring their eventual transfer to the State Archives.

“We are pleased to recognize the Office of Children and Family Services for their outstanding efforts to manage and preserve the records of state government,” said Acting State Archivist Thomas J. Ruller.  “We commend all involved in this winning program and wish them continued success in the years ahead.”

The annual Archives Awards program takes place every October, during American Archives Month, and recognizes outstanding efforts in archives and records management work in New York State by a broad range of individuals and organizations.
