Instructions for "Building Your Own Worksheet"
To print the image only:
- Select a thumbnail image and click to enlarge it.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "Print Image Only."
- Preview the image.
- To print, click the printer icon on your toolbar, or select "File," then "Print."
To build a worksheet:
- Select a thumbnail image and click to enlarge it.
- Click on and open "Caption," "Historical Background," "Questions," "Standards/Key Ideas," etc. to learn more about the image.
- The options "Caption," "Historical Background," and "Questions" may be edited--simply remove or add text as needed.
- To print a worksheet with text information, check the box next to the option(s) you want to include on the worksheet.
- Scroll down and select "Print Worksheet" to preview your form.
- To make changes to your customized worksheet, select "Back" from your toolbar and make changes. Scroll down to "Print Worksheet" to preview your changes.
- Print your customized worksheet from the preview page by selecting the printer icon on your toolbar, or select "File," then "Print."
To create a worksheet in Word for more options (for PC users):
- Select a thumbnail image and click to enlarge it.
- Click on and open the various options you want.
- Edit the text as needed.
- Place your cursor on the image and right-click, then select "Copy."
- Open a blank Word document, then right-click and select "Paste."
- In the Word document, click on the image and center it on the page using the centering icon on your toolbar. To adjust the size of the image, click on a corner, then stretch or reduce the image as needed.
- Once you have completed size adjustments, click on the outside bottom-right corner of the image and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.
- To add text, use either the "Insert" option on your toolbar to create caption and text boxes, or just add the text itself as you proceed. To add text, return to the appropriate Throughout the Ages page. Highlight the text you want to copy, right-click, and select "Copy." Then go back to your Word document and position your cursor where you want the text to begin. Right-click and select "Paste."
- Once all the information you want is in the Word document, you can further customize your worksheet to increase or decrease the size of the type, change font styles, add lines for students' answers, etc.
- To print: click the printer icon on your toolbar, or select "File," then "Print."
