Extension Activities

1. Create your own military registration record.
2. Create an army recruiting poster to attract African Americans into the military.
3. Design a war monument in honor of the 369th – “The Harlem Hellfighters”.
4. Write a letter as if you were a soldier writing to family members about your experiences on the Western Front.
5. Show the movie “Men of Bronze” (1977) which details the achievements of the African-American regiment.

Evaluation

1. The activities mentioned above may be used as evaluation tools.  In addition, the questions at the end of each primary source document can be answered by
   the students and used for evaluation.
