Lesson One

1. Define primary source document.
2. Provide examples of primary sources and secondary sources.
3. Provide students with Captain Hamilton Fish, Jr.’s telegram written to Franklin Delano Roosevelt on October 4, 1917. Read and discuss the document, and then answer the questions.

Lesson Two

1. Provide students with the letter written by Fish to his father on April 8, 1918. Read and discuss.  Student will then answer the follow-up questions.
2. Provide students with the letter written by Fish to his father on May 1, 1918.  Read and discuss.  Students will then answer the follow-up questions.
