Vision and Mission
Vision
The historical records of all New York's people are identified, collected, preserved, maintained, made available to, and used by New Yorkers to ensure their rights and to increase their knowledge of the history and cultures of this extraordinarily diverse state.
Mission
The mission of the New York State Historical Records Advisory Board is to assist in, support, coordinate, and advocate for the identification, collection, preservation, management, use, and accessibility of records that document all of New York's peoples, communities, organizations, businesses, and governments. Establishment of a board is required by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), the funding arm of the National Archives, to provide coordinated planning and oversight for Federal grants to New York State.
